Postpartum doulas provide rounded support to birther, baby and family for the adjustment period of the fourth trimester.
Postpartum doulas are trained in the care, feeding and development of a newborn infant. Our goal is to provide you with support and confidence moving forward into your parenting journey. We will provide you with hands-on-support for your infant and other children if necessary.
Once you get home with your new tiny family member, life changes in all the ways expected and even some not so expected ways. We want to help you adjust to this new life of yours so that you can focus on what really matters, healing and learning.
The postpartum doula role is to fill the gap that is left from medical care and family support. So often new families find a large amount of support within the first week or two, but as the birther is able to be more physically active, our support systems tend to become sparse. Postpartum care plays a vital role in the bonding and growth that build the foundation of parenthood.
The way that a family transitions to having a new family member can have long-term impacts on everyones physical and emotional well being.
We want to lift the figurative weight off of your shoulder and to help educate you along the way. In the end, our ultimate goal is make sure that when our time comes to an end you feel empowered and ready to face this journey without us.
The fourth trimester is something that many of us have not heard of, but it is so deeply important. It is defined as the first 12 weeks, or 40 days, that you have your newborn baby.
For your baby, this time is filled with many changes and milestones. They are purely dependant on you for their survival and that can be demanding. The work that babies put into growing during this period is not only exhausting but rewarding. This comes with many challenges that can leave parents feeling overwhelmed and tired. Many new parents find themselves unable to truly enjoy each moment as it comes.
Our goal during your fourth trimester is to help with all the small stuff, the large stuff, the unknown, and the curious. It is the perfect time for us to provide relevant education, infant feeding support, coping skills and more.
As a doula, we want to bring back the joy in the fourth trimester and to take away the sleepless nights and the physical and emotional stress that can be common during this period.
A postpartum doula will work closely with you in the comfort of your own home. Our goal is to ease the transition to parenthood with update and reliable information. We our trained and understand the importance of family dynamics and are not there to take over the role of someone in the home. By being supportive and non-judgmental, we are able to provide the new parents with the knowledge and confidence to stand by their parenting decisions as they raise the next generation.
Some family members may not be keen on the idea of having another set of hands in the house helping, but once a relationship has been established, most people find that a doula provides invaluable support that allows for more memory making time.
